The Story

ARP Pro Series Main Stud Kit

For Chevy/GMC 6.6L Duramax LBZ & LMM (2006–2010)

Strengthen your engine from the bottom up. The ARP LBZ/LMM Main Stud Kit is engineered specifically for the mid-generation Duramax engines (LBZ and LMM). As these platforms are often the go-to choice for high-horsepower street builds and sled pulling, the factory main bolts become a significant liability.

Under heavy load, factory bolts can allow "main cap walk," which leads to bearing wear and potential crankshaft failure. This ARP Main Stud Kit provides the vertical clamping force and lateral stability required to keep your rotating assembly rock-solid.

Key Features & Benefits

  • High-Strength 8740 Chrome Moly: Heat-treated to 200,000 psi tensile strength, these studs are designed to far outperform OEM hardware in durability and fatigue resistance.

  • Precise Main Cap Alignment: Using studs instead of bolts ensures that the main caps are perfectly positioned every time, reducing the risk of cap movement during high-RPM or high-torque operation.
  • Comprehensive Kit: This is a complete bottom-end solution. It includes the main studs, the critical cross-bolts (side bolts) for the block's main webbing, 12-point nuts, and parallel-ground washers.

  • Consistent Torque Loading: Studs provide a more accurate torque load because they are not rotating into the block under tension. All friction is confined to the nut-to-stud interface.

  • Broached Ends: Features broached stud tips for easy installation with an Allen wrench.

Why Upgrade Your LBZ/LMM Bottom End?

The LBZ and LMM engines are famous for their power potential, but that power puts immense stress on the main bearing caps. "Cap walk" occurs when the forces of combustion literally push the main caps away from the block, causing them to rub and vibrate. This can lead to a cracked block or a "spun" bearing.

By installing the ARP LBZ/LMM Main Stud kit, you are creating a much stiffer and more reliable bottom end. It is the cheapest insurance you can buy for a performance engine build.

Important Machinist Note: Because ARP studs provide a much higher clamping force than factory bolts, it is highly recommended to have your engine block line-honed with the new studs installed to ensure the main bores remain perfectly round.
